This year's Jurismus Annual Meeting takes us to Spain. From 14th to 17th of June, young lawyers will come together in the capital of the Province of Málaga, in Andalusia. Malaga city offers an exceptional beachline as it lies on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) of the Mediterranean.
What You Need To Know
Jurismus meetings are about Networking, Professional Development, and Discovering the local culture. Host member and Eurojuris President Enrique Delgado-Schwarzmann Jiménez started the preparations in early September 2017. ‘Everything is going well. We are very happy about the great interest and effort of all parties involved’, he tells us.
The programme is filled with professional and educational activities, including practical workshops, advice from local business leaders, and guidance on how to develop your advocacy skills. For example, a visit to the Chamber of Commerce, and the Malaga Bar Association, where we will have a reception by the barrister and inspiring working sessions.
This Year's Topic: The Art of Strategic Communication
Participants will benefit from working lectures on 'The Use of Social Media and Web Blogging for Lawyers', 'Social Responsibility for Law Firms and Their Impact on Business'. Besides, there will be a special session on 'Strategic Communication'. For Enrique, ‘the goal is to boost the skills and experience in these new fields of practice. Practical sessions beyond strictly legal issues are a must’.
Of course, Malaga’s wide range of leisure activities, cultural sights, parks, and gardens won’t be overseen! In the course of the meeting, we will visit the Picasso Museum, participate in a wine tasting, and enjoy ourselves in various locations full of excitement. Some will include local music to dance, while others will be more relaxed. Thereby you will build new international relationships, and friendships with other lawyers, and have a good time.
Enrique provides a foretaste of what is to come: ‘we will go to 'La Fabrica', 'El Pimpi', 'El real club Mediterraneo'. All three places are fabulous. La Fabrica is a new concept of a restaurant where local beer is produced. El pimpi is probably one of the most famous restaurants in Spain. Coming to Málaga and not going to El Pimpi would be a clear mistake. Last, but not least, El Real Club Mediterraneo is a club close to the beach.’
There is more: for everyone interested in history and culture, Malaga is the right place. The city’s rich history spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. The old historic centre of Málaga reaches the harbour to the south. In the north, it is surrounded by mountains, the Montes de Málaga. During a walk through the Historic Quarter, you can admire architecture from different ages, visit the fantastic Atarazanas Market, or the Plaza de la Constitución, where most of the city's social events are held.
