Sun, Picasso, and the philosophy of time: a joint French & Spanish Congress ahead

Both Eurojuris chapters in France and Spain will hold a joint yearly Congress in Malaga, where they will not only work on several aspects of time management, but also discover a city that has an easy and quiet lifestyle to offer along with a good dose of gorgeous culture.

Your French and Spanish colleagues are on their way to a special treat next month. From 21 to 24 of January, the two Eurojuris networks will hold they yearly congresses jointly in the gorgeous Spanish city of Malaga.

'We alternate between a Congress abroad and a Congress in France', explains Jérôme Depondt, EJ France's president. 'Two years ago we held our Congress in Berlin with the German chapter and everyone loved it; we had very enthusiastic feedback. So we investigated several possibilities for the next Congress and we opted for Malaga.'

The process of selecting the city involved Jérôme and a few others travelling to Malaga to explore the possibilities offered by the city in terms of Congress organising. There, they met a local Eurojuris lawyer, Enrique Delgado. 'I have a personal and professional connection with France', says Enrique, who speaks perfect French. 'I studied at the French school of Malaga and worked in Brussels and in France. A lot of my clients are French people with a business interest in Southern Spain.'

Jérôme and his team were impressed by the Spanish city. 'We saw the beach, the museums, the hotels... We wanted to be able to walk from the hotel to every place of work and leisure in the program. We will sometimes work in the building of the bar, and also in one of the Museums'. The program includes visits of the new Pompidou museum and the famous Picasso Museum. 'We will have excellent weather', says Enrique, 'and Malaga is a great city for culture. It is an easy city to explore and to experience. You can walk everywhere. The French delegation followed my advice and saw by themselves that this is a great city for a Congress.'

At this occasion, the French chapter will introduce an ambitious and groundbreaking project: advertising Eurojuris France 'We thought we lacked visibility', says Jérôme, 'and this is something we owe to our members: at the Joint Congress we will tell about our plan to get Eurojuris France better known to a greater audience.' The project is expected to bring a better recognition of the network and new clients.

Also worthy of note, the Joint Congress will also be honoured by the presence of the board of Eurojuris International, making it an even of interest for the whole network.

Apart from the general assemblies and some activities made in each language, the two chapters will gather together for cultural and social events. 'One of the presentations will happen at the bar of Malaga', says Enrique, 'I am its treasurer; I believe it will be an important social event.'

Jérôme says the theme of the French congress is especially amusing and interesting. “We chose time as the theme. There will be quite a philsophical approach, how do we perceive time, how we sell time or lack time. There will also be more practical workshops on how to better manage your time, how to find the time for work and for yourself...'

Enrique says, 'my favourite things in Malaga are the light, the climate, the gastronomy with a lot of seafood and the wine! People are very nice here, very quiet and gentle, we work hard but we get all calm when we drink wine. There is a very nice ambience here. And from Malaga you can also explore the surrounding region which has gorgeous castles and natural sites.'

The Congress is sure to bring lawyers a lot of sunshine in the middle of winter. So expect to read more about their experience very soon: they will surely share with you everything about their adventures in Malaga!
